Green Tea and Methyl dihydrojasmonate

My kids get into everything I own. I tell them they need to ask first, but they rarely do. Now, I find myself being a hypocrite. I use my daughter's Green Tea Scrub without asking. What makes it worse is that she bought it with her own money, so technically I'm stealing. I feel bad about it, but it smells so good, it's impossible to resist. Flavor Substances in Green Tea Why does it smell so good? I have some guesses:   Methyl dihydrojasmonate FEMA 3408 beta Ionone FEMA 2595 Boronia flowers  Extract FEMA 2167 Damascenone FEMA 3420 Viridine (Phenyl acetaldehyde dimethyl acetal) FEMA 2876 3-Methyl 2,4, nonanedione FEMA 4057 Geranyl acetate FEMA 2509 Sage Clary oil FEMA 2321 cis-3-Hexenol … [Read more...]

Tazo Tea Vanilla Bean Macaron

Stomach issues and weight gain have forced me to seek medical advice on my diet and exercise routine. I'm nearing 50, so it's time to admit I that I do not have an iron stomach anymore. An occupational therapist is helping me find a good "routine" and adjust my diet to suit my nutritional needs. I've also connected with fitness advisors that offer similar services. After a few weeks, we determined I should eat smaller, more frequent nutritionally dense meals to avoid sugar cravings and prevent overeating treats. I like treats, so thankfully, I've been told desserts are just fine (in moderation). Desserts are everywhere. They are even in the tea and coffee isle at the supermarket:     This trend of adding … [Read more...]

Apricot Tea

On a recent weekend get-away to Victoria, I encountered apricot tea at Murchies Tea & Coffee. Their apricot honey vanilla tea latte is out of this world. We do not have Murchies in the States, so I purchased a box of 50 apricot tea bags to take home with me. That was a mistake, I should have bought a case. Since that day, I have forgone my usual English Breakfast tea for an apricot tea with soy vanilla creamer. Murchie's apricot tea is not too fruity or sour like an herbal tea, but has a sweet, creamy, sweet apricot flavor tea nicely enhanced by black tea flavor. Apricot Honey Vanilla My husband tasted a sip of my apricot honey vanilla tea latte during our visit to Murchies. The sip ended up being "sharing". I did not willingly … [Read more...]

Bigelow Tea Eggnogg’n Review

Since moving to the Northwest seven years ago, I have become a huge tea fan. In the mornings, I allow myself one coffee drink and then switch to tea. I prefer tea with flavor, sweetener and milk.   Therefore, hearty comfort flavored teas are my favorite. Recently, at my local Albertson's, I found Eggnogg'n tea from Bigelow.  I've enjoyed a cup every morning since.  I prepare it with one packet of splenda and two tablespoons of light egg nog and find it very satisfying. Unfortunately, the flavor isn't too much like egg nog.  Personally, I find egg nog to have fruity rum notes, with vanilla, nutmeg and cream character.  There is little rum or nutmeg flavor in Eggnogg'n tea from Bigelow.   The tea is very buttery, caramelized and sweet, … [Read more...]
