Who doesn’t like a freebie? Taste Nirvana offered to send me their coconut water to review and I gladly accepted. Demi Moore, Salma Hayek and other popular movie stars are fans of coconut water. Most of us, though, don’t have a palate for this newly popular beverage. Coconut water isn’t delicious. It is usually dry, bland and a little “cooked”. Coconut water is popular because it is refreshing, hydrating and loaded with electrolytes.
Coconut water comes from tropical countries. Taste Nirvana is from Thailand, VitaCoco from the Philippines, Naked Juice & O.N.E. from Brazil. Taste Nirvana is unique in that it uses the famous sweet coconuts from the Nakorn Pathom province in Thailand. Soil, growing conditions and cultivation make a difference in an agricultural product’s flavor.
When compared to Vita Coco,Naked Juice and O.N.E. coconut water; Taste Nirvana is very sweet and high in coconut flavor. There are also some woody notes, a cooked character and it’s full. Vita Coco is sour and roasted (like a grilled vegetable), but it is very refreshing. Naked Juice is dry, slightly sour, bland and tastes almost like melon rind. Naked Juice coconut water is also rather refreshing. Because Taste Nirvana’s coconut water is rather sweet and flavorful, it isn’t as refreshing. Some consumers may dislike this affect since they are accustomed to a blander coconut water.
