Westsoy Chocolate Peppermint Stick Soy Beverage review

West Soy Chocolate Peppermint Stick Soy beverage

Tis the season! It’s getting cool outside, snow is on its way and it’s time to stock up on seasonal beverages. Egg nog lattes and peppermint mocha are two favorite seasonal beverages.  Since chocolate peppermint stick is a flavor that appeals to the entire family, Westsoy’s beverage is a good buy. I steamed it to use in my peppermint mocha and the girls loved it cold as their morning beverage. They quickly got over the fact that I didn’t serve them a cup with a candy cane in it, once they tasted it.

For a mocha, I use about 1/3 cup of chocolate peppermint stick soy beverage and steam it till nice and frothy. To the steamed soymilk, I add two espresso shots, 1 package of splenda and 1/2 tsp. vanilla. Without the extra sweetness, the mocha can be too bitter.  In a mocha, the soy beverage added a touch of creaminess, chocolate and mint flavor. Chocolate peppermint stick soy beverage blends nicely in a mocha and would be fabulous steamed with marshmallow on top.

Cold and on its own, Westsoy’s chocolate peppermint stick soy beverage is rich, thick and chocolately, ever so slightly beany,  and perfectly accented with candy cane notes.   The candy cane note gets a touch medicinal and nasal clearing, but in general it’s refreshing.  This soy beverage went over extremely well with my kids.  Thirty two ounces lasted a day and a half in our house.

Westsoy uses organic soymilk, organic cane juice, cocoa powder, natural flavors Tricalcium phosphate (adds to creaminess), sea salt, carrageenan (gives thickness), and vitamins in this beverage.  I’m surprised to see organic soy milk, since soy and corn products are often genetically modified. Organic regulations call for no genetically modified food ingredients.

Each 8 oz serving has a good amount of nutrition, no cholesterol and most importantly, it tastes good.
